Yes, band reunions are a dime dozen. And, yes, you're likely irked right now that we're reporting this instead of, say, the upcoming Feelies reunion (which we're pretty stoked to hear about, as well). Too bad! The reliable word on the street is, Denver's most godlike band of all time, The Fluid, is reuniting to play a show in its hometown in May or June–as well as Sub Pop's 20th-anniversary celebration in July. The exact dates are still up in the air, but it was announced back in October that Mudhoney/Pearl Jam predecessor Green River will also be reforming to play the Sub Pop party.
In case you didn't know: The Fluid was the first band Sub Pop signed that wasn't from Seattle, and was formed from the remnants of The Frantix–an obscure Denver punk group included on Smooch Records' new Local Anesthetic comp, and one that everyone from R.E.M. to Sonic Youth have sung the praises of. As for The Fluid itself, the band rocked mightily but broke up in the early '90s after releasing four full-lengths, three EPs, and numerous singles–including a split with Nirvana in 1991.
Ah, grunge nostalgia… Goes down like a bowl of grandma's oatmeal, don't it?
