Grizzly Bear go ice-skating in the new video for “Yet Again”
Brooklyn experimental art-rockers Grizzly Bear have released the music video for “Yet Again,” the expansive, driving second single off their gorgeous new album, Shields. The video was directed by Emily Kai Bock, who carries over stylistic flourishes like expressionistic lighting and slow-motion from her recent clip for Grimes’ “Oblivion.” She adds an inkling of narrative in the form of a solitary figure skater’s passive, fantastical journey as she falls through ice and then wanders around a forest, a carnival, and a generic suburban neighborhood. The clip is mostly about mood, and the skater’s trance fits the hypnotic atmosphere of the song. It’s only appropriate, then, that the final sequence features the skater losing her mind as the song devolves into a manic guitar freakout courtesy of Daniel Rossen.
