According to Consequence Of Sound, Guided By Voices has just announced a new album called How Do You Spell Heaven. That on its own isn’t particularly shocking, since Guided By Voices frontman Robert Pollard tends to announce new albums more often than the average person goes to the dentist, but he literally just released his 100th studio album—a double album—in April. Basically, if the sun burned out tomorrow, movie studios would continue to set up cinematic universes that nobody cares about and Robert Pollard would continue to release new albums.
Consequence Of Sound adds that How Do You Spell Heaven will contain 15 tracks, and a press release says that it “capitalizes on the current incarnation’s tour-buffed shine without sacrificing eternal verities.” Also, it will have “off-kilter rhythmic jolts; krazy chords; purposefully imperfect harmonies; and fragmented structures that start and stop on a coin of small denomination and go somewhere else, and quickly.” If you understand what any of that means, you can hear the first single “Just To Show You” below.
