Warner Bros. has chosen Guy Ritchie to replace Steven Soderbergh on its big-screen adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., the ’60s series about a worldwide organization of spies who always give you envelopes of cash for your birthday, and not even that much cash, really. It’s like, sure, they’re busy protecting the world from a seemingly endless parade of evil scientists, but it would kill them to go one step beyond and choose one of the dozens of big-box retailers out there and get you a gift card, so it looks like they put 30 seconds of thought into it, at least? Cripes, man. Anyway, Ritchie and his Sherlock Holmes producer Lionel Wigram will be working from Scott Burns’ original script for Soderbergh, but they’ll most likely give it a few revisions to make it more, y’know, Ritchie, mate, with some cool, slow-motion camera tricks that you can shove down your eye-gullets. And now talk turns once more to who will star in the film that has already passed through actors like George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender, and even Channing Tatum, a process that now begins all over again.
