GZA to team up with iconic composer Vangelis for his next album
Ever since live musical performances were invented, musicians have come up with countless reasons to cancel a tour date. Maybe they got sick and don’t want to put on a bad show. Maybe they got really into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze. Maybe they got banned from the country the concert was supposed to be in, leaving them legally unable to perform the shows. GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, however, has hit upon one of the best reasons to cancel a show that we’ve heard in a while. As reported by Pitchfork, GZA had to cancel a batch of upcoming European tour dates because he got a chance to work with someone who he referred to as a “very rare collaborator.” In a photo posted on Instagram, GZA revealed that the collaborator is famously reclusive composer Vangelis, the guy behind the music for Blade Runner and Chariots Of Fire. GZA is working with Vangelis on his new album, Dark Matter, and he promises “brand new material” for spring. You can see the photographic proof of this surprising team-up (it’s the first time Vangelis has directly worked with a rapper) below:
