H. Jon Benjamin recently stopped by the Brooklyn live show Late Night Basement, and, as is his natural tendency, started doing voiceovers. This time, Benjamin lends his considerable chops to a performance that already had chops to spare, HAL 9000, from 2001: A Space Odyssey. In the video, embedded below, Benjamin improvs his way through a minute and a half of HAL’s most famous scene, giving HAL the playfulness and sardonic edge of his trademark characters.
