True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld may have lost The Hunger Games to Jennifer Lawrence, but she’s found the perfect snooty rejoinder to starring in a big-budget, teen-oriented action franchise—taking the lead in a $15 million adaptation of Romeo And Juliet, which will film in Italy with Flight Of The Innocent director Carlo Carlie and with a script from Gosford Park’s Julian Fellowes. It will be Steinfeld’s first role since her Oscar-nominated breakout, and should provide a nice credibility buffer before she’s sucked into the more jejune world of dark fairy-tale adaptations with Sleeping Beauty.
