Haley Bennett joins Patrick Wilson and Jessica Biel murder-mystery thriller
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Haley Bennett (The Equalizer) will join Jessica Biel (Elizabethtown) and Patrick Wilson (Little Children) in an as-yet-untitled adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s The Blunderer. (Other Highsmith adaptations include Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers On A Train and Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley.) Also featuring Toby Jones (Infamous), the project begins filming this week, with Cincinnati standing in for New York City. Imogen Poots was originally cast in the role.
Set in the 1960s, the story follows Manhattan architect Walter Stackhouse (Wilson), who leads a seemingly charmed life with his wife Clara (Biel). This perfection is revealed to be a facade, however, as Stackhouse obsesses over a younger woman (Bennett) and a previously unsolved homicide. And as they often do in Highsmith stories, one of these two women turns up dead in the same manner as the unsolved murder. Suspicions are aimed squarely at Stackhouse, but he has suspicions of his own.
