If ?uestlove and someone from the company’s music division are to be believed, Prince has joined Twitter. The Purple One posted a number of semi-self-deprecating tweets last night, including some food porn (“DID EYE ADD 2 MUCH PEPPER?”), and a picture of smoke that he referred to as his first selfie. He also posted a new single he recorded with his band, 3RDEYEGIRL. The track, “Groovy Potential” is below, and it’s not half bad.
Unfortunately, Prince might not be on the Twitter for the long haul. Questlove speculates that he probably took over the 3RDEYEGIRL account, but that that doesn’t mean he’s taken over the entire handle for good. Guess the denizens of the Internet will just have to rely on those old Prince parody accounts for weird, Prince-like commentary on the reg.
