“I’ve got you!” and “Don’t let go!” are both perfectly acceptable to lines to deliver after grabbing someone’s hand at the last second to save them from falling to certain death. And according to action films, that’s a fairly common occurrence in life. The YouTube channel Lucky Treehouse has assembled a whopping 101 one-armed saves (and/or near misses) in everything from North By Northwest to True Lies to Toy Story.
Set, naturally, to The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” the video reveals the true diversity of the one-armed save: There’s the physics-defying mid-air catch, the slide towards a precipice, the “I’m barely hanging on,” and the tragic “whoops my hand slipped.”
