Hannibal director David Slade reunites with Bryan Fuller on Starz’s American Gods

Bryan Fuller is moving on from Hannibal to co-showrun Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, and he’s going to be bringing another Hannibal survivor with him: executive producer/director David Slade. That’s according to The Wrap, which says Slade will direct the American Gods pilot plus “several more down the line.” Slade only directed a handful of Hannibal episodes, but that handful includes the pilot (which established the show’s beautiful-yet-haunting tone) and “Mizumono,” the great second season finale that ended in a glorious bloodbath that left pretty much every character but Hannibal slowly dying. So, yeah, it seems obvious why Fuller would want to work with him again.

American Gods is the story of a war between traditional biblical or mythological gods and modern gods that represent things like money or technology. Fuller’s co-showrunner is Michael Green, and the series is set to premiere at some point in 2017.
