Happy Memorial Day from The A.V. Club

As you may have deduced from the headline, today is Memorial Day here in the United States. It’s a day distinguishable from all other days in that we eat and drink in honor of service men and women who died in the line of duty, not because we’re bummed out after one of our bi-weekly realizations that, “oh shit, this is all really happening. Like, for real.” Yes, patriotic celebrations have a different resonance this year, if not the all-American pastimes of binge eating and buying stuff on sale.

If Trump says something dumb about fallen service members, we’ll tell you all about it tomorrow, as Newswire is taking the day off. In the meantime, though, we’ve got plenty of great stuff for you to read elsewhere on The A.V. Club, including a conversation between Tim Heidecker and our own Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, a deep dive into Bryan Fuller’s short-lived series Wonderfalls, reviews of Sarah Silverman’s new stand-up special and season five of Steven Universe, and a seasonally appropriate primer on the unparalleled refreshment of Mexican beer. Speaking of which, we’re out of here. See you all tomorrow.
