Harry Potter movie may be directed by Harry Potter movie guy

Warner Bros.’ return to the wonderful world where you buy lots of Harry Potter stuff already has a name—Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, based on the fictional Hogwarts textbook—and a release date of Nov. 18, 2016. Now it just needs someone to give J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter story that Harry Potter feeling. To that end Variety reports it’s in talks with David Yates, suspecting that his experience with directing several Harry Potter films means he could be a good fit to direct some more Harry Potter films.

While the studio has yet to name Yates officially, it’s reportedly a done deal that he’ll return for at least the first installment of the planned trilogy. So far all that’s known is that it’s set seven decades before Harry Potter’s birth and follows the adventures of “magizoologist” Newt Scamander as he explores the wizarding world, trying to prove to his parents that a magizoology degree is good for something.

For Harry Potter fans, of course, seeing Yates return is just like that time the legendary wizard Horace Spankboot reappeared from the Mungbean Hollows after using the Wumpity Hex, or whatever the fuck.
