Harry Shearer and Judith Owen cover Spinal Tap’s “Christmas With The Devil”
Harry Shearer is best known to A.V. Club readers for two massive roles: He’s both one of the chief voices on The Simpsons (Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Skinner, Kent Brockman, Scratchy) and the cucumber-enhanced bassist of Spinal Tap, Derek Smalls. Shearer has also been making music with his wife, Judith Owen, for years, and they frequently hit the road doing special Christmas concerts that benefit mental-health charities. (This year’s tour just wrapped up, and it raised money for local charities as well as Bring Change 2 Mind.) The duo also just released a digital single for their version of Spinal Tap’s epic holiday song, “Christmas With The Devil,” and they brought their jazzy version of the song to our office just in time for the holiday. Unsurprisingly, the Onion and A.V. Club staffs were excited to see them play. Enjoy!
