Hasbro adds its beloved cartoons/toy commercials to Vimeo

The Transformers brand no longer carries much weight among serious media connoisseurs, but it’s still impossible to deny that the original Transformers cartoon—dubbed “Generation One”—was not only one of the best cartoons of the ‘80s, but one of the best televisions programs of all time. And no, we’re not just saying that because of nostalgia. It totally holds up.

Don’t believe us? Well, Hasbro has just teamed up with Vimeo to make a bunch of its cartoons—not just Transformers—available for streaming. Transformers and Jem And The Holograms are on Vimeo right now, and G.I. Joe, Pound Puppies, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will be joining them later this year. However, in keeping with the fact that all of these shows were created to be glorified commercials, Vimeo won’t let you see them for free. Individual episodes cost $2.99 to own and $0.99 for a 24-hour rental, but you can also buy the entire series for $40. Oddly, that seems to be a flat rate, since Jem And The Holograms ran for 65 episodes, while Transformers ran for an impressive 98, but both cost $40. Either way, can you really put a price on nostalgia? Yes, clearly.

Also, The A.V. Club is not responsible for any money you spend downloading copies of shows you liked as a kid that might not actually be as good as you remember. That being said, the Transformers cartoon is definitely still awesome.
