Having conquered TV and music, Cee Lo Green is going to be in movies now
Now that he’s topped both the pop and television charts, “Fuck You” singer Cee Lo Green has set his sights on being a movie star. Green—who’s been in recent headlines for his antics on The Voice—will play hip-hop star Troublegum in the upcoming Can A Song Save Your Life?. Considering his 20-year history in Atlanta rap group Goodie Mob, the role shouldn't be much of a stretch.
The film helmed by Once director John Carney is a musical drama that also stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Hailee Steinfeld, Catherine Keener, and Green’s Voice chair-mate Adam Levine. It concerns a singer who moves to New York with her boyfriend to pursue a music career, only to have him dump her when he gets a solo deal. But then she gets discovered by a music producer and presumably lives happily ever after.
Judd Apatow is producing and The New Radicals’ Gregg Alexander is helping out with the music. Production starts next week in New York.
