Hawkeye's dumb new haircut is the Avengers: Endgame hero we deserve
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, the unwanted youngest child of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is back for next month’s Avengers: Endgame. On its own, this is not particularly surprising: With the franchise down so many characters, every superhero, D-list or otherwise, is needed for the next big superhero showdown.
What is notable about the arrow-shooting, sleeve-hating Ren Fair enthusiast’s return, though, is the new Endgame trailer’s shocking reveal that he now has a dopey new haircut.
Though Marvel has cleverly obscured this fresh look in its official Endgame poster, the internet will not let any attempt to downplay this incredible new story development succeed.
Mohawk-eye has polarized viewers. Some are, incredibly, in favor of a hair choice that, style aside, is going to leave the poor bastard’s temples very cold while the top of his noggin overheats.
Others, minds clear enough to see the disastrous look for what it is, have plenty of thoughts on how it came to be and what it implies about 2019's Hawkeye.
Whatever the case, there’s no arguing that Hawkeye is now several times more memorable than he has been in past movies, though they really should’ve just gone all in with a scalp tattoo or two. Even if Renner only gets a few lines, audiences will be unable to forget the superhero who reported to universe-saving duty styled like a European club promoter’s mid-life crisis, no matter how hard his corporate overlords try to ignore him.
