HBO developing series around musical-comedy duo Garfunkel And Oates

Potentially filling the void left by Flight Of The Conchords, female musical comedy duo Garfunkel And Oates has signed a deal with HBO to develop a series around its live act, which features sketches and songs like “I Would Never (Have Sex With You)” that satirize cutesy acoustic-folk duos while also being a cutesy acoustic-folk duo. Recently, co-founder Kate Micucci (Oates) has become a familiar presence on TV, even earning our coveted “She’s Everywhere” Award for her cameos on shows like Raising Hope and Til Death; Micucci’s musical partner Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) has been seen in shows like Gilmore Girls and The Big Bang Theory, while also turning up in films like Million Dollar Baby and The Last House On The Left. Both also have ties to HBO already—Micucci with her role as a comic-obsessed, self-identifying elf on Bored To Death, and Lindhome with an upcoming role on the Laura Dern-starring Enlightened. The show will be overseen by Important Things With Demetri Martin’s Richie Keen, and it will be adorable.
