HBO finally gets hip to this Sarah Silverman kid

Although she’s been doing comedy for two decades, Sarah Silverman has little in the way of specials—those hallmarks of stand-up careers—to show for it. She has her 2005 concert film, Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic, but her IMDB page is surprisingly light on the specials that crowd Comedy Central’s schedule or pop up occasionally on HBO or Showtime.

That’ll change later this year, when HBO debuts Silverman’s first stand-up special, Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles. Network president Michael Lombardo called her a “fresh” voice in a press release, perhaps forgetting that she co-starred on two HBO series way back in the mid-’90s. No air date has been set—HBO says this fall—and even though it has a snappy title and everything already, Silverman hasn’t actually taped it yet. (That’ll happen in Los Angeles in May.)

In the meantime, here’s her on An Evening At The Improv in 1992. Her new special probably won’t look much like this.
