HBO is finally getting serious about making Mark Ruffalo play twins

Everybody loves Mark Ruffalo, except maybe Edward Norton (since Ruffalo swooped in and took what must be a pretty lucrative superhero gig from him), and so now HBO is getting ready to double the amount of Ruffalo that we normally get by casting him as a pair of feuding twins in a new limited series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Ruffalo is set to star opposite Mark Ruffalo in an adaptation of Wally Lamb’s I Know This Much Is True, an “epic story of betrayal, sacrifice, and forgiveness” that centers on two identical twin brothers and is “set against the backdrop of 20th century America.”

The six-episode series will be written by The Place Beyond The Pines’ Derek Cianfrance, and if this all sounds strangely familiar, it could be because we reported on this being in the works almost exactly a year ago. The plans were all tentative then, but now it sounds like HBO is officially moving forward with the project. This will be Ruffalo’s first stop back at HBO since The Normal Heart in 2014.
