HBO picks up Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Veep to series

HBO confirmed over the weekend that it had picked up Armando Iannucci’s comedy pilot Veep, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a senator who discovers that the job of being vice president is neither as glamorous nor as thrillingly cutthroat as Joe Biden makes it look on a daily basis. Veep co-stars Anna Chlumsky—who overcame her past as “My Girl” with the help of Iannuci’s In The Loop—and Tony Hale, taking on his first post-Arrested Development regular series role since Andy Barker, P.I., so hopefully this will work out better for him. (We bet it will.) Anyway, this makes Julia Louis-Dreyfus easily the prettiest vice-president in U.S. history; sorry, Schuyler Colfax.
