HBO shines Bright Lights on Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds in new trailer

The mourning period continues for fans of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, the mother-daughter Hollywood icons who died in late December. And so HBO’s new documentary, Bright Lights, will offer them a chance to bawl as they witness the complex yet loving relationship between the two women, who lived next door to each other for years. It’s a touching tribute to the stars, but it doesn’t shy away from their difficulties—when recalling her youth, Fisher says “I went too fast, I was too much.” Their signature candor is among the many things that will be missed, which directors Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens highlight throughout their documentary.

Bright Lights premieres January 9 on HBO.
