HBO has announced that Martin Scorsese’s long-in-the-works collaboration with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, a rock ‘n’ roll drama series about the gritty, behind-the-scenes world of the music industry in the 1970s, now has a name: Vinyl. To accompany the announcement, HBO released a quick teaser trailer onto Instagram, establishing that, whatever else goes on in the series, there’ll definitely be a lot of drugs, guitars, and glossy lips on display.
The teaser also gives a vague release date of 2016 for the show, a joint effort from Jagger, Scorsese, and his Boardwalk Empire cohort Terence Winter. Vinyl’s been in intermittent development since 2010, with a number of actors signing onto the project in the intervening five years. Boardwalk Empire’s Bobby Cannavale will star as record label president Richie Finestra, accompanied by a wide cast of performers—including Ray Romano, Ato Essendoh, Olivia Wilde, and Max Casella. The show’s Instagram account promises more information as the week progresses.
