If you aren’t able to make it to Paul Reubens’ Broadway revival of The Pee-wee Herman Show, either because of the insurmountable expense of travel or litter of bodies outside Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, you’re in luck: HBO will film the show in January for broadcast sometime in 2011. The current Broadway version, of course, is a modernized update of the original Pee-wee Herman Show Reubens originally created for the stage, which was filmed for an HBO special that aired in 1981, which was then adapted again for Broadway, which will be filmed again for this new HBO special. It’s like unraveling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting….
