HBO wants your Game Of Thrones stuff for a book
HBO is compiling what it calls “the world’s first collaborative, crowd-sourced compendium,” a collection of material that is all related to Game Of Thrones. All material for the compendium will come from fans of the show and may include “story analysis, arts and crafts, original artwork, costume or jewelry design, music—anything that extends the Game Of Thrones experience.” Still, at least 70 percent of the Game Of Thrones experience will evidently be absent from the book, as submission guidelines preclude anything depicting nudity or “unnecessarily violent or graphic” imagery.
You’re also limited to just the events and storylines of the TV series’ first four seasons—your elaborate collage of clues from the books on why Jon Snow is the rightful king is going straight to the trash heap—and then only the actual events and storylines. Your fan fiction where you fly around on a dragon with Tyrion solving mysteries, and Sonic the Hedgehog is there too for some reason, is definitely going to the trash heap.
All submissions will pass through selected a “Council of Editors”—an eclectic group that includes celebrated illustrators Greg Hildebrandt and Gerald Brom, Jeopardy! champ Arthur Chu, Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio and Project Runway’s Nina Garcia, and various leaders of online Game Of Thrones fandom. Anyone selected for inclusion will receive a free copy of the printed book when it’s published in 2015. The submission period opens December 16 and runs until March 28; anyone who is at least 18 and is a resident of the U.S., U.K., Brazil, or Canada can submit material at GameOfThronesCompendium.com.
