Those anxiously awaiting Michael Mann and David Milch’s new series Luck will no longer have to wait until a new year to see it: HBO will air the pilot on Dec. 11, immediately following the season finale of Boardwalk Empire, because that’s how they get ya. Of course, the series won’t officially premiere until January, leaving you with a long, cold month in between where you’ll be denied the pleasure of hearing Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte grumble through more of Milch’s grizzled, profanity-laden dialogue. But you can probably get roughly the same effect by spending the holidays with that one uncle who always smells like cherry tobacco and Dewar’s.
