HBO will rerun Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking this Sunday

As fans continue to reflect on and pay tribute to the life of Carrie Fisher, HBO is preparing to honor the author and actress by allowing her to speak in her own words. According to Deadline, the network announced today that it’ll be rerunning Fisher’s 2010 documentary Wishful Drinking on Sunday night. Adapted from the stage show of the same name (which the Star Wars actress also turned into a book), the feature-length documentary combines Fisher’s own autobiographical stories with interviews and archive footage, allowing her to describe her raucous, often-chaotic life in her own comedic, self-effacing style. At the time of Fisher’s death, she was working with HBO on a sequel to the show; meanwhile, the network is currently planning to air a new documentary about Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds—who also died this week—some time early in 2017. In the meantime, Wishful Drinking will re-air on the network at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Day. You can see an excerpt from the show—in which she riffs on her most famous performance—below.
