HBO will stream a Foo Fighters show on Facebook

HBO is fully on board the Foo Fighters train. First, the network committed to airing Dave Grohl’s eight-part documentary series, Sonic Highways, and now it’s signed a deal with Facebook to stream a live Foo Fighters concert this Friday. Foo Fighters Sonic Highways: Live From The Cubby Bear will stream live from Chicago on Oct. 17, immediately following the premiere of the Sonic Highways series on HBO. The stream will be available to U.S. viewers via HBO’s Facebook page, and the network says it’ll also be it available at a later date on “certain HBO platforms” (HBO Go, probably).

Though today’s Chicagoans know The Cubby Bear as a douchey Wrigleyville hole for tourists and amateurs, the club was once home to a number of amazing punk shows, including the first concert Grohl ever saw. Both the club and the city of Chicago feature prominently in Sunday’s episode of Sonic Highways, which finds the Foos working with famed engineer Steve Albini, among other people.
