Hear a full stream of Vaniish’s dark, dreamy debut album, Memory Work
Featuring former and current members of San Francisco dark-wave groups Soft Moon and Wax Idols, Vaniish might be reasonably expected to play a similar sort of shimmering yet shadowy post-punk. And sure enough, that’s what Vaniish does. The outfit’s debut album, Memory Work—which is being streamed here in full for the first time—chills and churns in all the right ways, evoking the crystalline melancholy of The Cure’s early work along with the edge-blurred atmosphere of Sarah Records’ back catalog. It isn’t a huge departure for those involved, but it is a refined, gorgeous exploration of that foggy-day headspace.
Memory Work will be released June 10 via Metropolis Records.
