Hear a sampler from the reissued catalog of dream-pop band The Aislers Set
Between 1998 and 2002, San Francisco’s The Aislers Set redefined what dreamy indie-pop could do—without doing anything more radical than writing and recording a few batches of stunning, timelessly beautiful songs. Those albums (1998’s Terrible Things Happen, 2000’s The Last Match, and 2002’s How I Learned To Write Backwards) are being remastered and reissued in light of The Aislers Set’s upcoming string of reunion shows. Below is a sampler of one song from each release; breathy, delicate, ornate, yet subliminally punky, they prove once again the group has always deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as predecessors like Heavenly, contemporaries like Belle And Sebastian, and descendants like The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.
Terrible Things Happen and The Last Match will be reissued September 23 via Slumberland; How I Learned To Write Backwards will be reissued October 14 via Suicide Squeeze.
