Riverdale’s given us a new (handsome) take on Archie Andrews, but the makeover also extends to Josie And The Pussycats. The fictional band now covers real Inner Circle songs like “Candy Girl (Sugar Sugar),” which featured Flo Rida. That song was itself a sweet reworking of The Archies’ “Sugar Sugar,” so its inclusion in an upcoming episode was practically a necessity.
Ashleigh Murray leads the Pussycats as Josie, with Ashanti Bromfield and Hayley Law playing Melody and Valerie, respectively. The Pussycats are very much a part of the social order, though they also do their own thing. They’ll rub elbows with queen bee Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) but also give a goober like Archie a chance. You can look for more of the band when Riverdale’s second episode airs tomorrow.
