Hear That?

The New York Times had an article today about a ringtone that is as popular with the kids as that 'rap' music.

Evidently, the tone is so high pitched that most adults can't hear it, so a few enterprising kids started using it as a ringtone so they can text each other in class.

It's very popular in New York right now, which means it should hit the rest of the country in about a year and seven months.

So, according to your ears (and the

New York Times) are you an adult? There's an MP3 of the ringtone here if you want to try to listen to the sweet sound of being young.

I'm 25, and I can hear the ring (which, by the way, confirms my suspicions and means I'm not actually a grown-up), but I wish I couldn't. I had no idea that youth sounded so irritating–like a higher, squealing version of that Emergency Broadcasting System tone.

Putting your phone on vibrate is a lot less annoying––and a lot smarter, especially if your teacher is under the age of 30, or happens to have really great hearing.

Basically, kids are still kinda stupid.
