Hear the ad-libbed intro to the audiobook of Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance
Aziz Ansari has had quite the 2015. After wrapping Parks And Recreation, the comedian filmed a stand-up special, is launching a new sitcom on Netflix, invented a phone that smells good, is writing on Chipotle cups, and has a new book out. (Only one of those things is made up, and it isn’t the one about Chipotle cups.)
The book is called Modern Romance. And it’s about exactly that, as rather than simply converting stand-up material into book form, Ansari interviewed dozens of people currently looking for love as well as psychologists and relationship experts, collaborating with sociologist Eric Klinenberg (Going Solo) on the final product. For the audiobook, Ansari also ad-libbed an intro in which he chastises the listener for being too lazy to read a real book while riffing on the seductive background music:
