Hear the first new Ben Folds Five song in 12 years
It’s been a long time since Ben Folds Five released its final album, 1999’s underappreciated The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, and while Folds has continued making wistful piano pop on his own, he’s never quite returned to the creative and popular highs of his former band. All those highs are collected on the forthcoming compilation The Best Imitation Of Myself: A Retrospective, which comes out Oct. 11 in single-disc and deluxe three-disc editions. Amid the greatest hits, near misses, and rarities are three new songs recorded by Ben Folds Five earlier this year. You can stream one of those songs, “House,” here—fans should be pleased, as it sounds like a track that could’ve easily ended up on the band’s most popular album, 1997’s Whatever And Ever Amen.
