Hell has broken loose in Doom Eternal, the sequel to 2016’s killer Doom reboot
The first big surprise of Bethesda’s E3 2018 showcase is Doom Eternal, a newly announced sequel to 2016’s reboot of the classic series. Just as Doom II: Hell On Earth did back when it built off the original genre-defining shooter, Doom Eternal will be taking the Doom Slayer back to Earth in the wake of a massive demon invasion. The brief teaser trailer announcing the game depicts a fiery devastated city besieged by demons and giant hell tentacles—and of course, the crushing, all-powerful boot of the Doom guy as he shows up to rip and tear some monsters apart. No release date or further details were announced. Bethesda plans to show some actual footage from the game at QuakeCon in August.
