Hell yeah, Julie Andrews is voicing a big fish for Aquaman

We know how it is: You’re relaxing on Black Friday, trying to shake off the post-turkey logies, Shopper’s Madness, or that old “Just Read That New, Terrifying Climate Change Report” blues. You need a win, friends, and luckily we’ve got one for you: Julie Andrews is in Aquaman, and apparently she’s voicing a big fucking fish.

Specifically, the Oscar-winner will voice “the Karathen” in the upcoming Jason Momoa aquarium commercial, a “mythical creature” who’s apparently vital to solving the film’s central conflict. Andrews has proved over the last few years that she’ll lend her voice to damn near anything—she’s got both Shrek Forever After and two Despicable Me movies under her belt at this point—but still, big ol’ fish creature is a new one. It will, presumably, at least be very majestic as far as large, ominous ocean dwellers go: Per producer Peter Safran, “We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress”—obviously—“Albeit somewhat digitally altered. And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no-brainer.”

As several people have noted, the most interesting thing about Andrews—who hasn’t done a live-action acting role since 2010's Dwayne Johnson vehicle The Tooth Fairy—taking the part is what movie Aquaman is opening against: Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, which she isn’t expected to appear in at all, despite, well, you know.

Poppins fight! Poppins fight! Poppins fight!
