Hell yes, Lily Tomlin’s getting a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award
The magnificent Lily Tomlin—who for some unfathomable reason still does not have an Oscar—is getting a different trophy. Per Variety, Tomlin will be honored with the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony taking place January 29, 2017. The Screen Actors Guild now has a pretty good track record for giving this prize to deserving ladies. This year’s went to Carol Burnett, Debbie Reynold’s got it in 2015, and Rita Moreno the previous year. They should never give it to a man again. (We kid. Sort of.)
Tomlin is currently up for an Emmy for Lead Actress In A Comedy for her work on Netflix’s Grace And Frankie. If she wins, it will be her seventh time taking home that prize. She also has a litany of other awards including the Mark Twain Prize For American Humor, a Kennedy Center Honor, two Tonys (one regular and one special), and a Grammy. She now just needs at Oscar in order to EGOT.
