Help fund an Undercover-inspired record from Clem Snide

Mad with power thanks to the popularity of our Undercover series, Josh Modell’s megalomaniacal reign has until now consisted mostly of refusing to talk to anyone who isn’t in a hot indie band and throwing delicious Starbucks coffee in the face of anyone else who tries. But now he’s looking to extend his tyranny beyond the confines of the round room, developing an Undercover-inspired EP for his own, self-described “micro-indie” record label Foreign Leisure that will bring Clem Snide back for another dance with Steve Perry. As you may recall, Clem Snide’s main man Eef Barzelay did a wistful, whistle-aided take on Journey’s “Faithfully” last year, and now Josh has convinced him to do an entire EP of Journey covers—including favorites like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” and “Any Way You Want It”—that will see limited release later this summer on vinyl (only 500 copies) and as a digital download.

However, he needs your help: Donate at this Kickstarter campaign page and, in addition to the satisfaction of knowing you helped make the record happen, you can receive tokens of gratitude that range from autographed test pressings to guest list spots to more personal touches, like Barzelay covering a song of your choosing and sending you an MP3 of it. And if you go nuts and contribute $1,500 or more, you’ll get all the goods, plus Clem Snide will come to your house and play a solo acoustic show just for you. Even better, you can rest assured that Josh won’t make a dime from this, as every single dollar will go toward recording, pressing, and shipping, with any leftover profits going straight to Clem Snide. Which is good, because Josh doesn’t need money inflating his already-insane sense of power.
