Hendrix guitar worth more than Velvets LP, but not by much

If you think the members of the Velvet Underground never got enough money or credit, here's some late justice: Their precious relics are doing almost as well as more lucrative musicians' in auctions that probably don't benefit them at all. That rare Velvet Underground LP on eBay is now getting a high bid of $124,300, and yesterday, a Stratocaster that once belonged to Jimi Hendrix went for $168,000, the Associated Press reports. Three days are left in the LP auction, and the bid's jumped by about $17k since yesterday morning, so it might even grab more than that, bringing new dignity to the world of extravagant memorabilia collecting.
