Henry Cavill joins Mission Impossible 6

Once-and-future Superman Henry Cavill will soon be back to futilely trying to stop buildings from exploding, with Deadline reporting that Cavill has signed on to the cast of the upcoming Mission Impossible 6. Director Christopher McQuarrie made the announcement via Instagram, coyly asking Cavill if he wanted to hop over and co-star in the Tom Cruise-starring film. Cavill fired back in a similar mood, responding with “Only if I get to fly for real” and then following it with an enthusiastic “I’m in!” Contract negotiations have rarely been this cute.

This won’t be Cavill’s first trip to the superspy rodeo; he previously starred, to mixed reviews, in 2015’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. There’s no info out yet about what part the actor will be playing in the long-running espionage franchise, but he’ll presumably appear opposite returning cast members Cruise, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, and fellow newcomer Vanessa Kirby, from The Crown.
