Henry Cavill to fill Tom Cruise's hole in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Facing a serious setback after Tom Cruise chose the proven 1960s spy TV show adaptation over the marginally riskier one, Warner Bros. made the only decision it could regarding The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: just scrapping the project and accepting that it was interesting as a Steven Soderbergh/George Clooney project, but now seems increasingly rote and unnecessary hiring someone to replace Cruise as Napoleon Solo. To that end it’s gone the route of an increasing number of American blockbusters by outsourcing the job to England and entering talks with Man Of Steel’s Henry Cavill. As Variety notes, Cavill originally read for Armie Hammer’s role opposite Cruise, but ultimately it was determined that Cavill was also a brunette, as well as much, much larger. Embarrassingly larger, in addition to being much younger. Such factors are fortunately no longer an issue with Hammer, and producers and director Guy Ritchie are now expected to lock in Cavill soon, so they can finally get moving on their movie where a brunette spy and a blonde spy wear spy suits and do spy things.
