Henry Rollins really, really hates hipsters

This clip from the German television show Durch Die Nacht Mit (Into The Night With)—shot in 2006, but only now getting some online attention—finds Henry Rollins perusing New York’s Cake Shop with Iranian visual artist Shirin Nishat, where he takes her on a guided tour of “very hip” music, which Rollins characterizes as the stuff liked by “very young, intellectually intense, switched-on people”—the kind of people who, Rollins believes, think he is "old and in the way." Then a couple of girls, excited by his presence, make the mistake of yelling out, “Get in the van, man!”—a reference to, as Rollins explains it, his “very famous” and “very well-known” book. Naturally, Rollins confronts them. It’s awkward. [Stereogum]
