From the flashiest celeb to the loneliest egg, everybody on Twitter has wasted a tweet here and there complaining about some stupid thing. Most of us will eventually move on, forget about the thing that annoyed us, and possibly even feel a twinge of regret over being so childish. For Donald Trump, though, complaining about things on Twitter isn’t just a nasty habit that lets him blow off some steam, it’s a way of life. The idea that Trump loves whining about stuff on Twitter is nothing new, with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign even going so far as to monetize his Twitter nonsense last week, but now the New York Times has dug deep into Trump’s Twitter history and put together an exhaustive catalog of the various people, places, and things he has insulted since kicking off his presidential campaign last June, the results of which are pretty amazing.
Titled “The 281 People, Places, And Things Donald Trump Has Insulted On Twitter: A Complete List,” the massive page breaks down Trump’s targets by category, has links going to the tweets in question, and is even color-coded so you can quickly see the most recent insults. On a purely logistical level, this thing must have been a ridiculous and unenviable undertaking, and the simple fact that it exists is both stunning and terrifying. Trump has gloated about his supposedly great temperament at the debates, and yet here we have 281 things he has insulted on Twitter, some of which he has insulted dozens of times—including The New York Times itself, which he has called “a joke,” “a total lie,” “a fraud,” “totally dishonest,” “SAD,” and about a hundred other things, just in case you’re wondering why the paper decided to put this thing together.
Naturally, the biggest target for Trump’s ire is Hillary Clinton, the woman who is personally attacking his ego by beating him in all of the major polls, but he still saves plenty of anger for Elizabeth Warren, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Fox News, and CNN.
