As it turns out, those persistent rumors of a Ghostbusters pinball machine based on the characters and premise from the old-school movies weren’t just idle speculation. Creator Stern Pinball has finally officially announced three versions of a Ghostbusters game with tons of ghostly, slimy special effects and gameplay. IGN confirms that the machines feature renderings of many familiar characters—including the core four fighters from the 1984 film, as well as Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver, Slimer, the Ecto-1 vehicle, and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man—along with the earworm theme song and new audio callouts from beloved ’Buster Ernie Hudson.
The backglass, cabinet, and playing field contain intricate, detail-crammed art by respected illustrator Zombie Yeti, while noted pinball design wizard John Trudeau (the man responsible for the Creature from the Black Lagoon game) helmed the Ghostbusters machine. Other features include a Stay Puft that changes colors; a 3-D Slimer that, when hit by a pinball, “slimes” the gameplay via slime-green lights; and a mysterious feature called “para-normal magnetic action slingshots.” And, of course, no Ghostbusters pinball would be complete without actual specters: Both the higher-end LE and Premium models have holographic images of the Librarian, Slimer, and the Scoleri Brothers that players can actually fight.
The machines are available to order now, with the lower-end Pro model starting at $5,995.
