Here are some Fantastic Beasts-inspired clothes and where to find them
With two of 2016’s most frightening days now nearly in the past—Halloween and Election Day—we can move on to ransacking pop culture for wardrobe ideas for New Year’s Eve parties. And there’s one November release that’s particularly suited to the task. That’s Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, whose trailers have mostly showcased the film’s lovely period clothing and not so much the magical creatures. If you’ve been wondering where you can find a periwinkle blue, mid-calf length coat for your dressier dinners, Hot Topic has you covered. (But if your life requires you to dress for actual winter and not just a studio backlot, we suggest sticking to a down coat.)
For those looking to score Newt Scamander’s (Eddie Redmayne) threads, there’s this button-down shirt. The print is made up of Nifflers, Runespoors, and Newt’s case (from which the beasties escape, so buyer beware, we guess).
Here’s the coat we mentioned above, which is a woolish blend. It is lined, and has satin trim on the pockets, for maximum, pretend-wizard effect. (Note: Wands not included with ensembles.)
The film’s leading ladies offer way more variety and wearable options. The movie’s (and book’s) 1920s setting means lots of flapper-inspired designs and delicate fabrics, as modeled by this Jenna Coleman lookalike (wrong fandom, Hot Topic).
We look forward to Jyn Erso-inspired coveralls come December.
