Here are the nominees for the 2015 WGA Video Game Writing award
The 2015 Writers Guild of America Awards are being handed out on February 14, and the nominees for the Video Game Writing category have been announced. According to Variety, not one, but two Assassins Creed entries—Freedom Cry and Unity—are up for the honor, competing against Alien: Isolation and The Last Of Us: Left Behind. The WGA Video Game Writing category is more relaxed than those for film and TV, allowing work that was produced by non-guild members to be considered. (Also, Left Behind isn’t even a full game, but an expansion to 2013’s The Last Of Us.)
The full list of nominees is below, so you know whom to thank for those extended cut scenes you can’t skip past no matter how many times you die and respawn.
- Alien: Isolation, written by Dan Abnett, Dion Lay; SEGA
- Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry, lead scriptwriter Jill Murray; scriptwriter Melissa MacCoubrey; story by Jill Murray, Hugo Giard, Wesley Pincombe; Ubisoft
- Assassin’s Creed: Unity, story by Alexandre Amancio, Sylvain Bernard, Travis Stout; scriptwriting Alexandre Amancio, Travis Stout, Russell Lees, Darby McDevitt, Ceri Young; additional scriptwriting Jeffrey Yohalem; Ubisoft
- The Last Of Us: Left Behind written by Neil Druckmann; Sony Computer Entertainment
If AC: Unity doesn’t win for writing, Ubisoft can take solace in knowing that its glitches are probably the most bonkers out of this year’s nominees.
