Here are the nominees for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences revealed its nominees for the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards this morning, carving some 9,100 submissions down to a varied field of competitors that reflects the continued rise of streaming platforms (well, at least one streaming platform) in a shifting TV landscape where yesterday’s industry leaders are being encouraged to be more like their digital rivals.
Samira Wiley and Ryan Eggold announced the nominees from the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles, with Wiley receiving the on-stage word that she’d been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her work in the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale. Game Of Thrones, returning to the competition after being ineligible for last year’s Emmys, leads all programs with 22 nominations; HBO, meanwhile, has seen its long-running streak for most nominations by broadcaster upset by Netflix, which surged past the pay-cable mainstay with 112 nominations, thanks to nods for GLOW, Black Mirror, The Crown, Grace And Frankie, Ozark, Godless, and Seven Seconds.
The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost, will be presented live on Monday, September 17th on NBC.
