Here are the winners of the 91st Academy Awards
Welcome to Billy Porter’s Velvet Tux/Gown Combo Presents: The 91st Annual Academy Awards! Marking the culmination of a long and tumultuous awards season—the “Best Popular Film” controversy was all the way back in August, if you can believe it—tonight’s Oscars ceremony is going forward without a host, the first time AMPAS has done without since 1989. That show is legendary for its “nightmarish” 11-minute opening sketch that nearly ended Oscars producer Alan Carr’s career; tonight’s Oscars managed to avoid any career-ruining awkwardness, but Green Book’s many detractors, including our own A.A. Dowd, are sure to find its Best Picture win more than a little deflating. But hey, Olivia Colman won! So did Spike Lee! And Black Panther won three Oscars, which would have been a completely insane proposition even a few years ago!
This year’s Oscars nominees are below, with winners marked in bold.
