Here is today's reminder that Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne are different people

Though they are both black men with successful acting careers who have never been in your kitchen, Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne are not the same person. Samuel L. Jackson’s most popular character wears a long leather coat and an eyepatch; Laurence Fishburne’s most popular character wears a long leather coat and sunglasses. Samuel L. Jackson is that one guy in School Daze, while Laurence Fishburne is that one guy in School Daze, etc. However, it seems these differences—in addition to more subtle ones involving their appearance, personality, and work history—can sometimes elude even the most expert of researchers, as well as KTLA’s Sam Rubin.

The longtime entertainment reporter was reminded today of the various nuances between Jackson and Fishburne during an interview with the former, when he mentioned Jackson’s “Super Bowl commercial” in a list of Jackson's recent accomplishments. But Jackson, surprisingly up to date on the always-crowded schedule of Samuel L. Jackson, counters that he wasn’t in a Super Bowl commercial; that was Laurence Fishburne. An embarrassed Rubin immediately attempts to redirect toward talking about RoboCop, but Jackson refuses (“Oh hell no”), then spends the entirety of his segment berating Rubin about his mistake, before reminding him, “There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial”—including Jackson, Fishburne, and Morgan Freeman.
