Here’s a look at the Toy Story special airing on ABC this October
Though rumors of Toy Story 4 continue to swirl—given the popularity of the series and Disney’s ravenous desire for more installments of a multi-billion dollar property, it’s more of a “when” than an “if”—the lack of definite news won't prevent the beloved characters from popping up in other places. Pixar has released three Toy Story Toons shorts since 2010—Partysaurus Rex is the best so far—and now the first of two Toy Story half-hour specials on ABC has been announced. Toy Story Of Terror, set to air this October, will send all the usual characters to a spooky motel when Bonnie’s mom’s car gets a flat tire on the way to Grandma’s house. All the regulars from the series will return—with the special focusing on Jessie, allegedly due to budget constraints or because it’s her “turn to really show some growth.” Timothy Dalton and Kristen Schaal also reprise their voice roles from Toy Story 3 as Bonnie’s other toys, and Carl Weathers joins up as Combat Carl, the toy Sid blew up in the first film. So expect some kind of Predator and Psycho homages, but hopefully no Bates Motel crossover.
